Every Podcast by Cultural Nonprofits in One Place: A New Directory by Better Lemon Creative Audio
I’m excited to share a completely revamped and refreshed version of my Directory of Podcasts by Cultural Nonprofits.
The directory began as a long blog post list I started keeping a few years ago. I realized there was no one place museums and other cultural nonprofits could go to see what other institutions were doing with podcasting and likewise no one place where fans of these institutions could find their shows. Soon the list started getting unwieldy, and I spent a few weeks building a directory into my Wordpress site. Unfortunately, that first version didn’t have much functionality and it didn’t look very good. So I let it die when I rebranded as Better Lemon Creative Audio and launched my new website.
Now, using Community Box, I’ve rebuilt the directory.
>Browse the Directory<
The new directory is full searchable. Entries are geotagged, so you can browse by location using the map at the top of the page. I’ve created tags for organization type and language, so you can browse using those. Each entry will give you the podcast description and a link for listening.
At press time, there are 147 podcasts listed. Here’s what you’ll find in the list:
- Podcasts created by museums, history/heritage organizations, arts organizations, galleries, archives, libraries, theaters, music organizations, and so on.
- Podcasts *about* GLAM work. Mostly these are podcasts about museum and heritage/public history work. I’ll include any shows that are relevant to the running of all the aforementioned institutions, but I’m not including subject-matter podcasts like podcasts about theater or books or art unless they are created by a cultural nonprofit.
I know there are still quite a few gaps in the collection! That’s why I’ve made it easy to add your show (or shows you know of) to the directory. Just use select the “+ Add” button at the top of the directory, create a quick Community Box account, and submit a show.
Lastly, I am including any podcast I find that fits the criteria and was active within a few years (or has enduring value). Inclusion in this list is not an endorsement. This is a comprehensive list, not a curated one.
Please enjoy and share widely!
